Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, is the investigation body and national archive for the historic environment of Wales. The archive and offices are situated in the former county of Cardiganshire or (in Welsh) Sir Aberteifi.

Royal Commission Resources
The Royal Commission records the man made environment of Wales, from the earliest times to the present day. It’s site records are held within it’s archive, the many thousands of early photographs, maps and site records are freely accessible via the Royal Commission’s library and search room.
Coflein, the online database contains many of these site records, which include site descriptions, photos and a location map.

Historic Wales, is a map enabled portal for historic environment information in Wales. The portal allows simultaneous searching of hundreds of thousands of records relating to archaeological monuments, historic buildings and artefacts held by different organisations across Wales.

The Story of Nonconformity in Wales was a charity established to look after chapels that are historically and/or architecturally significant to the story of chapel building and Nonconformity in Wales and that are valuable to their local communities.
5. The Library Catalogue
The Library Catalogue is a comprehensive list of publications about the built environment of Wales. These publications are available in the Royal Commission’s Library and Search Room.
6. Britain From Above
The Britain from Above website features images from the Aerofilms collection, a unique aerial photographic archive of international importance. The collection includes 1.26 million negatives and more than 2000 photograph albums. Dating from 1919 to 2006, the total collection presents an unparalleled picture of the changing face of Britain in the 20th century. It includes the largest and most significant number of air photographs of Britain taken before 1939.
