Listed Buildings in Ceredigion

Ceredigion listed buildings, or structures, 1,883 Listed Buildings (mainly Grade II with 10 at Grade I) have been placed on a statutory list maintained by Cadw in Wales.

A listed building may not be demolished, extended, or altered without special permission from the local planning authority, Ceredigion County Council, which consults with Cadw, a government agency, particularly for significant alterations to the more notable listed buildings. Most sites appearing on the list are buildings or other structures such as bridges, monuments, sculptures, standing stones, cairns, war memorials, and even milestones and mines are also listed.

Ancient, military, and uninhabited structures, such as Strata Florida Abbey, are sometimes instead classified as Scheduled Monuments and protected by much older legislation. Information on scheduled and other archaeological and historic sites, buildings and landscapes of Ceredigion are held by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
