Caer Argoed near Llangwyryfon
Caer Argoed, is situated on the N. side of the Wyre Valley a mile to the E. of Llangwyryfon. Its general position is not unlike that of the plateau camp, north of the Wyre Gorge. It consists of a single line of defence with remains of additional outworks on the N.W. The camp occurs on the edge of a spur. The view is shut in on the N. and S., where on the skyline is a peculiar notch cut into the hill across the valley. The interior of the camp contains two mounds of stones which a farmer’s labourer seems to think were deposited there after clearing a neighbouring barley field about 15 years ago.
